Tips Before Washing Your Hat

Before you begin cleaning your baseball cap, consider these pre-cleaning pointers:

We always recommend hand washing when you can.

  1. Machine Washing Baseball Caps: Wondering if your baseball cap can brave the washing machine? You're in luck, but with one caveat – avoid this method if your cap has a brim constructed from cardboard.
  2. Determining Brim Material: To figure out whether your hat sports a cardboard or plastic brim, try this simple test: lightly flick the brim. If it emits a hollow sound, chances are it's fashioned from cardboard. Cardboard brims were commonly used in vintage hats. If your cap is more recent, you're likely in the clear.
  3. Avoid the Dryer: A crucial tip – resist the urge to toss your baseball cap into the dryer. Subjecting it to heat could lead to unwanted shrinkage and distortion. Instead, opt for air drying methods such as hanging it up or laying it on a towel. While we do not recommend using a dryer. 4. Dealing with Small Stains: When faced with minor stains that don't warrant a full wash, there's a handy solution. You can swiftly eliminate these blemishes by using a stain remover that's safe for fabrics, like OxiClean. Just spray the product on the stain, let it sit briefly, and then blot it dry with a damp cloth or towel. If your cap boasts decorative elements like rhinestones or embroidery, you may want to gently brush those areas to ensure stain removal without harm.
